Lorezno Theater Foundation 4th annual Speakeasy Night

FOUNDATIONíS ANNUAL Saturday September 16, 2006

Take a Trip Back In Time to "Lorenzo's Hideaway: A Speakeasy Night" The fourth annual fundraiser to benefit Lorenzo Theater Foundation will include live music, dancing, and casino-style gaming--a fun Prohibition-style evening to help save the historic Lorenzo Theatre in San Lorenzo.

Aug. 20, 2006, San Lorenzo, CA-Don your feathers and fedoras, and start tapping those toes now for "Lorenzo's Hideaway: A Speakeasy Night," the fourth annual benefit for the Lorenzo Theater Foundation, to be held on Saturday, September 16, 2006 from 7:30 pm to midnight. Through the generosity of Mather Aviation, this fun and popular event, which raises funds to help save the vintage Lorenzo Theatre in San Lorenzo, will again be held in one of Mather's airplane hangars at the Hayward Airport, 19990 Skywest Drive, Hayward

Couples, singles, and groups of friends will enjoy the unique ambiance of an old-time speakeasy-the secret nightclub establishments which operated illegally during Prohibition. "Lorenzo's Hideaway" will be a fun adventure back in time, offering dancing and casino-style games to play with lively professional dealers for some great prizes donated by local businesses. "3 O'Clock Jump," a well-known Big Band led by Gus Wedemeyer, will provide fabulous music from the golden age of jazz through the jitterbug, for dancing and listening. Rounding out the evening will be a no-host bar, light food items for sale and a raffle of several exciting prizes, highlighted by a grand prize of a three-hour Mini-Casino night at the winner's home, valued at $650, which has been donated by Vegas Magic, a provider of rental equipment and staff for theme parties. Guests are encouraged to come in costume to add to the speakeasy atmosphere: flappers, floozies, gangsters, bootleggers and other shady characters of the New York and Chicago art deco era of the 20s and 30s.

"We're putting together a really special event that has some real theatrical flair, since after all, we are trying to save a theatre," said Nancy Shelvy, president of the board of the Lorenzo Theater Foundation, which has been striving to save and restore the Lorenzo Theatre to its former glory for a number of years. "It's going to be a lot of fun and something really different. Come kick up your heels on the dance floor!"

Sponsors for the event include the Bohannon Foundation, Civic Partners, Arroyo Veterinary Clinic, Vickie Perreira, Dr. Keith Robertson, Supervisor Alice Lai-Bitker, New Century Title and United Title of San Lorenzo.
